My favourite top 5 cafes in Kolkata

Hey there everybody, today I’ll share about my favourite top 5 cafes in Kolkata. Being a foodie hedonist, cafe hopping is my favourite thing to do. From Indian traditional restaurants to french cosy cafes are the perfect place for work, official meetings, brunching, or spending some wonderful time with bae; apart from all these, cafes are the perfect place to spend some quality time with yourself and depart in reverie.

Sienna cafe & store

The entrance of Sienna cafe

This hidden gem has made quite a popularity among the Kolkatans lately but for those how are new to this place let me tell you the aesthetics about this cafe. Consider it as Kolkata’s prettiest cafe. Interiors are done in such a way that every corner attracts your attention. The decor has a boho/contemporary touch and the use of blue colour acts as a catalyst in calming your mind. Apart from the decorations, the cafe has an attached store where they sell cute stationery and boutique.

Coming to the food, they mostly have Italian delicacies and under beverages, you’ll get different types and flavours of coffee, tea and shakes. I would recommend you to try Celery Cucumber and spaghetti pasta with pesto (green sauce).

Calcutta 64

Outdoor seating

I personally love visiting quaint cafes and Calcutta 64 is among them. A tad bit small as far as the seating is concerned, however, they are expanding and also arranged for outdoor seating which is perfect for small groups. The food here is no doubt amazing. They serve fantastic breakfast so if you need some morning motivation to kick-start your day, treat yourself with their wide range of breakfast menu and if you are in no mood for cheat day then opt for salads. My personal favourite is chicken caesar salad ( they also serve veg).

The only cons I could find was that you may have to wait long for a table because it’s full most of time.

Cha Bar

Entrance from inside the bookstore

Sitting nicely inside Kolkata’s famous bookstore, the place invites to enjoy a cup of tea with one’s favourite read. Yes you read it right, Cha Bar is situated inside the Oxford bookstore, so bookworms this is the perfect place for you. Just pick up your favourite book to read, go upstairs and order your favourite food and have a gala time with yourself or friends/family. Don’t forget to have Darjeeling special tea.

The Biker’s cafe

Reception desk

As the name suggests the place will give you the rustic ambience with a biker feel to it. This one is a themed cafe cum pub. Everything revolves around bikes and they have a photo wall where you can read a little history about bikes. They have maintained the theme even with their cutlery.

Seating space is enough and as they also serve hookah, they had a separate seating space for that. Their wide range of drinks both non-alcoholic and alcoholic will definitely make you go perplexed. Now, coming to the food, the menu comprises European, Mexican, Italian and American delicacies. I started with crispy chilli chicken and for the main course, I opt for Mexican chipotle chicken sizzler. And they both tasted exactly I thought it would be or may be better. So, enjoy your food with live entertainment and have a wonderful time.

The ambience and decor

P.S. please book a table in advance.

Raj’s Spanish Cafe

Fairy lights with murals

The place is no less than a hidden gem found in Kolkata. I came to know about this place only when my best friend took me here and I’m glad I went. With a menu that offers Mexican, Italian and Spanish breakfast, sandwiches, coffee, tea and sinful desserts, makes the best place for comfort food. You must have had domino’s pizzas, but it’s time you must try out super thin crust pizza of this cafe. For people who seek to hear stories from around the world, for them, it’s the must-visit place.

The wall of stories

The ambience is pretty good. The doses of greens, murals and stories on the wall from different people from different places make the cafe interesting hence you’ll never get bored.

P.S. ask the locals for direction as this place is quite difficult to locate {hidden Gem guys ;)}
